March 29, 2019 Brantford Police charge 55-year-old Brantford man with historical sexual assaults.

In the fall of 2018, the Brantford Police Service began an investigation into a complaint of a historical sexual assault that involved a young male teen. The investigation identified numerous male victims who were youths at the time of the incident(s). The victims have all identified the same Brantford man as the offender.

The youths allege that Paul EDWARD FITZGERALD had befriended them between 1980 and 2015. During that time the accused is said to have provided them with drugs and alcohol. He then allegedly engaged in sexual activities with them. The sexual assaults are to have happened when the victims were between the ages of 12 – 17 years old.

The most recent allegation is from 2015.

At that time Fitzgerald was working around children at Mohawk Lake.

Brantford city officials said in a statement that, “Mr. Fitzgerald operated the train for a brief period of time in the Summer of 2015. As soon as it came to the city’s attention that there were allegations related to Mr. Fitzgerald, our concerns were immediately communicated to the contractor and Mr. Fitzgerald was subsequently dismissed by the contractor.”

One of the incidents occurred as long as 35 years ago.

As a result of the police investigation, Paul Edward FITZGERALD, a 55 year old male from Brantford, has been charged with 15 Criminal Code offences; including Indecent Assault on a Male, Procuring, Sexual Assault, Assault, Threatening and Uttering Threats.

Victims of Sexual Assault are encouraged to contact the Brantford Police Service, Victim Services of Brant (519-752-3140) or the Sexual Assault Center of Brant (519)751-1164.

Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Constable Chris Fleming of the Brantford Police Service Criminal Investigation Section at (519) 756-0113 ext. 2319.

His next court appearance it set for April 25.
