On Tuesday May 14, 2019 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle that had just collided with a house on Grey Street. Community Patrol Officers attended to the scene where they located the motor vehicle accident. The vehicle had been travelling on Clarence Street when it turned the corner at Grey Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the front porch of the residence. While speaking to the driver she showed signs of impairment. Investigation revealed that the driver was currently under the influence of prescription medication. The driver was arrested and given a demand for a drug recognition evaluation.

As a result of the drug recognition evaluation the driver was charged with impaired operation by drug. Further investigation revealed that the accused licence was currently suspended and that the validation for the vehicle had expired and that a false validation had been put in its place.

A 42-year-old Brantford woman has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Drug under the Criminal Code. She is also charged with Drive While Under Suspension, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit and Use Validation not Furnished for Vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.
