Food Curiosity: Luo Bu Ma Tea
Recently in my travels I had the pleasure of enjoying sips of a beneficial tea that offers many wellness properties, yet has a name that sounds like a new dance craze. It’s called Luo Bu Ma Tea and I just had to learn more. I plugged in with a respected Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Sue Serre from Hollow Willow Health Store in hopes of learning about this tea with a curious name. The flavours of Luo Bu Ma Tea are cool to taste, bitter on the tongue yet produce a sweet flavour as you enjoy the sip.
When I met with Sue to discuss why Luo Bu Ma Tea is so increasingly popular here is what she had to share. “Luo Bu Ma Tea is a loose leaf tea grown and hand rolled in Tibet. This tea offers more antioxidants than green tea and has wellness properties that have undergone research to prove its claims. Enjoying Luo Bu Ma Tea assists in dealing with veritigo, helping reduce high blood pressure and is a delicious way to reduce stress. ” When we discussed natural sleep aids, Sue explained that Luo Bu Ma Tea helps in offering a relaxing state which can aid in the preparation of a good nights’ sleep.
I myself, love a piping hot cup of tea so I asked Sue about best steeping techniques with this exotic wellness tea. Can I use any old tea pot. “Yes absolutely” indicated Sue, ” Use your favourite teapot with measuring 2 tbsp of loose leaves for 6 cups of water. There is no tea ball required as this tea steeps best when maximizing the entire pot surface and not being confined into a small space for steeping. The leaves will eventually sink to the bottom and after 10 minutes you can enjoy a delicious cup of wellness tea.”
Luo Bu Ma Tea, who knew all the goodness waiting for you in a cup of tea.
