Stolen Vehicle found on Stanley Street | Couple Charged
On Friday February 8, 2019 just before 11:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a stolen vehicle in the area of Nelson Street. The vehicle was seen driving in the area and was believed to have been previously reported stolen to police. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle on Stanley Street. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver and female passenger. Upon speaking to the driver he was able to produce valid registration and insurance for a vehicle with the attached license plate and vehicle identification number. Investigation revealed that the vehicle identification number had been tampered with and replaced with that of a similar vehicle. The male and female were both arrested without incident. A 35-year-old Brantford male has been charged with Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle Over $5000 under the Criminal Code. A 46-year-old Brantford woman is charged with Occupy Stolen Motor Vehicle under the Criminal Code.Â
