Happy Victoria Day Weekend | Five more Impaired Citizens Charged
Impaired – Stanley Street:
On Sunday May 19, 2019 just before 1:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver. A male was seen stumbling and getting into a vehicle and driving away. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the suspect vehicle. Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.
While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were two times the legal limit.
A 40-year-old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and 80 Plus. The accused license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Impaired – Erie Ave:
On Sunday May 19, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Erie Ave. Officers observed the vehicle swerving in and out of marked lanes and performed a traffic stop. While dealing with the driver, Officers observed signs of impairment. Information was received that the driver only possessed a G2 license and was in violation of the Novice Driver Alcohol condition.
The male driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation a 21-year-old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code. He is also charged with Novice Driver – Zero Alcohol under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Impaired – Colborne Street West:
On Saturday May 18, 2019 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle accident on Colborne Street West and Sherwood Drive. A vehicle had struck a parked vehicle and a pole. The driver and passenger were then seen fleeing the car and the area. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the accident.
Officers checked the area and found the occupants a short distance away. The male driver was arrested in regard to the accident. While dealing with the driver Officers observed signs of impairment. Information was received that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.
As a result of the investigation a 29-year-old Brantford male is charged with Failure to Stop After Accident, Operation While Impaired and Fail to Comply with Probation under the Criminal Code.
Impaired Icomm Drive:
On Friday May 17, 2019 just before 7:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver on Icomm Drive. A female had been refused entry into a business on Icomm Drive due to her state of intoxication.
The female was seen leaving in a taxi however returned a short time later and was then seen getting into a vehicle and attempting to drive away. The female was blocked in by others in area until police arrived. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the female driver. While dealing with the female officers observed signs of impairment.
The female was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law. The accused samples were over two times the legal limit. As a result of the investigation a 52-year-old Cambridge woman is charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Impaired – Colborne Street East:
On Friday May 17, 2019 shortly after 7:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle parked across two parking spaces in a business parking lot on Colborne Street West. Officers observed the vehicle to be running and a male driver slouched over against the driver’s window asleep.
Officers spoke to the male driver who showed signs of impairment. A demand was given for a field sobriety test and performed.
As a result of that test the driver was arrested. While dealing with the accused a syringe with suspected cocaine was located on him. The accused was given a demand for a Drug Recognition Evolution and transported to the Brantford Police Service. As a result of the investigation a 35-year-old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation – Drug under the Criminal Code. He is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. The drivers license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
