Separate Alcohol Impairment Charges | Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Colborne St. West
On Saturday June 8, 2019 just after 9:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver. A vehicle was observed on Wayne Gretzky Parkway swerving all over the road and almost going into the ditch. The vehicle was then seen parking in a driveway at a residence on Brantford Wood Park Road. Community Patrol Officers attended the address where they located the vehicle and a male driver still inside. When Offices approached, loud music could be heard coming from the vehicle and the male driver was observed slumped over and sleeping. Officers were able to wake and speak to the driver. While dealing with the male, Officers observed signs of impairment and the driver was arrested.
The driver was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were four times the legal limit.
A 51-year-old Brantford male is charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code. The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
On Saturday June 8, 2019 just after 12:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle make a wide right turn from Market Street onto Dalhousie St. The vehicle was then observed swerving and not staying within marked lanes and almost contacting the side guard rails as is passed over the Lorne Bridge. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver. While dealing with the driver he showed signs of impairment and was arrested.
The driver was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 24 year old Brantford male has been charged with Operation While Impaired and 80 Plus. The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
