Brantford man tased after threatening to stab police officers
A 40-year-old Brantford man was tased and arrested after threatening to stab police officers.
Brantford Police Services received a 9-1-1 call on Wednesday, March 14, from a woman who said her adult son became aggressive and punched her in the back of the head. She fled the home and called police from a neighbour’s house.
The woman’s husband and son were still in the home. When police confronted the accused, who was visibly angry, at the front door.
The man threatened to stab an officer and punched the front window so hard that it broke.
The accused ran at one of the officers threatening to stab him and officers tased the man.
The accused was found in possession of a pocket knife.
He was charged with assault, assault police, assault with a weapon, possession of dangerous weapon, utter threats and mischief under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
An 18-year-old Brantford man was arrested for stunt driving after driving more than double the speed limit.
A Brantford Police Services received complaints from businesses and residents about a speeding vehicle on King George Road on Thursday, March 15. An officer was conducting speed enforcement and saw a vehicle travelling southbound at 113 kilometres per hour in a 50 kilometre per hour zone.
The man was charged with stunt driving, his car was impounded for seven days and his driver’s license was also suspended for seven days.
