Brantford police arrest a teen in vehicle causing safety concerns
A 16-year-old male with outstanding warrants and 19-year-old female were arrested on Saturday after evading Brantford Police on Friday.
While on routine patrol an officer saw the male driving a vehicle near Memorial Drive and Hayhurst road on Friday around 12:30 p.m. and recognized him as having outstanding warrants.
The accused pulled over to park the vehicle and the officer pulled in front of the vehicle on a angle to box him in, but the male reversed around another parked car and fled at an unsafe speed.
The officer did not chase the suspect because he was driving dangerously and the officer had public safety concerns.
Officers spotted the male and a female getting in a vehicle on Colborne Street on Saturday around 3 p.m.
Brantford Police officers stopped the vehicle and boxed it in.
Police found .85 grams of cocaine, a little over 2 gram of marijuana and another bag with .91 grams of cocaine.
The 16-year-old Ohsweken male was charged with flight from police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of cocaine. He was wanted for failing to re-attend court for motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The 19-year-old Ohsweken female was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.
A Brantford man is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident.
Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call just after 4 a.m. because a truck hit a telephone pole and was left on the front lawn of a home on Rowanwood Avenue after the driver fled on foot.
Officers found the 37-year-old Brantford man a short distance away, running on foot near Hamilton Avenue and Lyndhurst Street.
He displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving, but he refused to provide a breath sample.
He was charged with impaired driving, fail to provide breath sample and fail to remain at the scene of an accident. The man’s license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
A 30-year-old Brantford man was found trespassing in a backyard in possession of other stolen property.
Brantford Police Services received a 9-1-1 call just after 3 a.m. on Monday reporting two suspicious males in a neighbour’s driveway who then entered the backyard.
Officers located the man in the backyard looking at a BMX bike next to backyard patio. When the accused noticed police, he jumped over a fence and fled on foot.
He was arrested near the corner of Wellington and Brock Streets.
Officers spoke with the homeowner, who said no one was supposed to be in the yard and pointed out two cell phones in the yard that did not belong to him.
One of the cell phones is a purple Samsung and the other is a blue LG phone.
The second male was not located.
The accused was charged with trespass by night and two counts of breach of probation.
A thief kicked in a door on Dalhousie Street to get to an Xbox.
Sometime between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. the home was entered after the door was kicked in. An Xbox and Xbox games were stolen.
