Erie Ave Collision – Impaired Driver Charged
On Thursday May 17, 2018 just after 8:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a motor vehicle collision on Erie Ave. A male driving an RV (recreational vehicle) had hit a parked vehicle. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the motor vehicle collision and spoke to the driver. Officers, upon speaking to the driver, observed signs of impairment. The driver was issued a demand to provide a sample into an approved roadside screening device. The driver provided a sample which registered a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over the legal limit. A 63 year old Brantford male is charged with Operate Motor Vehicle – Over 80 under the Criminal Code. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
