Cannabis Impairment while Driving | 26-year-old male charged

On Saturday January 12, 2019 just before 6:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driver on Colborne Street. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the vehicle initially would not stop. The vehicle was stopped, and Officers spoke to the male driver. Why speaking to the driver, he showed signs of impairment and admitted to having used marijuana. A roadside demand was given to the driver which he performed. As a result of the roadside test the driver was arrested. The accused was transported, and he was given the Drug Recognition Evaluation Demand.
As a result of the evaluation a 26-year-old Brantford male has been charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle while Impaired – Drug. The accused license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
