Mother’s Day Weekend | Four Separate Impaired Driver Charges
On Saturday May 11, 2019 just after 10:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residential complex on Barnes Ave. An intoxicated male had attempted to gain access to the complex and when he was unsuccessful, he was seen getting into a vehicle parked in the parking lot. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located a male matching the description in the driver`s seat of a running vehicle in the parking lot.
Officers spoke to the male who showed signs of impairment and he was given a demand for a roadside screening device. While dealing with the male Officers located an open bottle of beer in the centre console of the vehicle. The driver registered a fail on the roadside screening device and was arrested. The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.
As a result of the accused samples he was issued a 3-day license suspension. He was also charged with Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with open Container of Liquor under the Highway Traffic Act.
On Sunday May 12, 2019 just before 5:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received 9-1-1 call about a possible impaired driver on Lynden Road. A vehicle was seen swerving in and out of marked lanes and was stopping for green lights at intersections. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle parked at a Lynden Road business.
A male driver had been observed in the vehicle and was located at the business. While dealing with the male driver he showed signs of impairment and was given a demand for a roadside screening device. The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested. The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation a 25-year-old Brantford male has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code. His license was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
On Saturday May 11, 2019 just after 1:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle exit a business on King George Road. When the driver observed the marked police vehicle, he reversed back into the parking lot and drove to the rear of the business.
Officers followed the vehicle and spoke to the driver. While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and the driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device. The driver provided a sample which registered a fail.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. As a result of the investigation the driver was issued a three days license suspension.
On Saturday May 11, 2019 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driver who had just left a business on Market Street. Community Patrol Officers attended the area where they located the vehicle driving down Market Street. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver.
While dealing with the driver, Officers observed signs of impairment. The driver was given a demand for a roadside screening device. The driver provided a sample which registered a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over the legal limit.
