Soup for the Soul: Serving Brantford with Heart and Purpose

In the heart of Downtown Brantford, a quiet act of kindness is making a big difference. Soup for the Soul, a lunch program run through St. Andrew’s, opens its doors every weekday from 1–2 p.m., welcoming anyone in need no ID, no questions.

Earlier this year, Jeff from Living in Brantford stopped by to speak with Jeanine, one of the passionate organizers behind the program. Watch the video here.

In 2024, 34,000 meals had been served through Soup for the Soul, with the program now supporting an average of 150 people each day. So far in 2025, that number is at 14,000, highlighting just how essential this service has become in Brantford.

But Soup for the Soul isn’t just about food. It’s about community, dignity, and meeting people where they are. Volunteers serve meals, hand out shelf-stable food and essential toiletries, and offer items often overlooked like chocolate or nuts small comforts that are usually too costly for daily budgets.

Want to help? You can:

  • Volunteer your time
  • Donate shelf-stable items, hygiene products, or comfort items
  • Support financially via cash/cheque to St. Andrew’s (specify “Soup for the Soul”)
  • Or donate online via the St. Andrew’s website
  • For direct inquiries, reach out to Jeanine at jeanine@standrewsbrantford.com.

In a busy world, Soup for the Soul shows how something as simple as a hot lunch can make a big difference.
