Toboggan at Arrowdale Park in Brantford: A Local Winter Favourite
Can You Still Toboggan at Arrowdale in Brantford? Yes, You Can
If winter has you wondering where to take the kids for a proper sledding afternoon in Brantford, Arrowdale Park should be on your radar.
The hill is open, well used, and in excellent condition. More importantly, it’s exactly the kind of place that gets kids outside and moving, even on a cold January day.
Earlier this winter, we bundled everyone up, tossed every sled we owned into the car, and headed over. A couple of hours later, cheeks were red, legs were tired, and the general mood was the good kind of exhausted that only comes from real outdoor play. The kids loved it, and honestly, so did the adults.
Where to Go and What to Expect
Access to the hill is simple. Enter Arrowdale Park from Rawdon Street and you’ll spot the sledding area just beyond the newer splash pad section. If you remember when this area was part of the golf course, those days are long gone.
Today, there are three clearly defined sledding runs. While that might sound modest, it actually works really well. The runs are long enough to feel exciting but not so steep that climbing back up feels brutal, especially if you’re chasing kids all afternoon.
What to Bring When You Toboggan at Arrowdale
One of the great things about choosing to toboggan at Arrowdale is that there’s no “right” sled to bring.
During our visit, we saw GT racers, crazy carpets, plastic sleds, inner tubes, snowboards, and sleds designed for younger kids. If it slides, it works. Arrowdale attracts all kinds of setups, which adds to the relaxed and inclusive feel of the hill.
The Overall Atmosphere
Arrowdale has a relaxed, welcoming feel. During our visit, there were roughly three dozen people spread across the hill, mostly families and small groups. Everyone took turns, watched out for kids walking back up, and gave each other space.
We stayed close to two hours, and even as we were packing up in the late afternoon, more families were arriving. With good snow conditions and plenty of room, it never felt crowded or chaotic.
A Few Important Reminders
Arrowdale’s sledding hill is not supervised, so the City of Brantford asks everyone to use common sense and follow a few basic rules when you want to toboggan at Arrowdale
You’re responsible for judging whether conditions are safe for you and your family. If you notice a real safety concern, you can contact Customer Service at 519-759-4150, or call 911 in an emergency.
Building jumps or ramps is not allowed. It might be tempting, but it creates unnecessary risk for others on the hill. Take turns, stay aware of people walking uphill, keep the environment family-friendly, and leave the loud music at home.
Glass containers and pets are also not permitted on the sledding hill.
Nothing complicated — just simple guidelines that help everyone enjoy the space safely.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been debating whether Arrowdale Park is still a solid winter sledding spot in Brantford, it absolutely is.
Good runs, a friendly crowd, and the kind of winter fun that gets kids outdoors and smiling. Grab whatever sled you have, dress warm, and make an afternoon of it.
Arrowdale delivers.
